When the Music gets played

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue packed the Newport Music Hall last Saturday.
The opening band was the Soul Rebels from New Orleans, who we had seen at Jazz Fest, and they were outstanding as well.
In total there were 13 musicians in the two bands.  Every single one of them with a different story and a different reason for why they were touring around the country, landing in Ohio on a Saturday night in December.
We all have our reasons for doing what we do but if you asked each of them it would come down to a few choice words like "Passion" "Love" "Money" and "Excitement" for why they do what they do.
But inevitably when you ask a group of that size why they do what they do a few have a different reason.
The reasons vary but stick to the same theme of doing it for others.
They do it to support their kids, it's what their mom always wanted them to do, or because their wife believed in them.
The core theme in this instance is to not do it for yourself but rather do it for the ones you love and for the ones who love you back.
That's a huge motivator in this world and a great way to do stick to your goals when you set out trying to accomplish something.
If you are doing it for something more than just yourself then it's a lot harder to give up because you aren't just quitting on yourself.

The Efficiency Recipe comes out January 2nd.
The first thing you need to know is you should sign up HERE to have the chance to win a free copy and get a discounted price and first access to it before anyone else does.
The second thing you need to know is if you are disorganized, overwhelmed, or feel you have more to accomplish but don't currently have the time you should purchase it when it comes out.
But don't do it for yourself.  Do it for the ones you love.  Tweet that!
It will give you the chance to spend more time with them, enjoy doing new things with all of them, and it will keep you motivated to stick with it because you aren't just freeing up time for yourself.
You are freeing up time to spend it with the most important people in your world.

If you get the chance to see Trombone Shorty or the Soul Rebels live and you enjoy funky jazz, don't miss out!
And think about in the meantime who you are really doing what you do for.  I think you'll be surprised and then extra motivated.
